Father's Day Gift Guide

Father’s Day is quickly approaching—a time to turn our attention toward good ‘ol dad. To help you celebrate, we’ve compiled a list of wellness-focused activities and gifts sure to please dads of all ages. While sharing experiences tops our list, gifts that support a healthy lifestyle come in as a strong second. Try these ideas for that special (and sometimes hard-to-shop-for) father figure in your life:

Local Activities:

Bike ride – You don’t need to own a bike to take a spin with the abundant rental stations in Alexandria. Grab some bikes for the day, and head to the Potomac trail or ride through D.C. and explore the monuments. Plan your route to allow a pit stop for a healthy lunch.

Boat ride – Take advantage of our city’s proximity to the water, and treat dad to a leisurely ride on the Potomac. Coast from Old Town to the National Harbor and enjoy some freshly made guac at Rosa Mexicano, or hop on the water taxi and explore the Wharf.

National’s baseball game – Who doesn’t love a ballgame? Treat pops to a day at the ball field, complete with a cold brew and side of peanuts.

Massage – We think dad deserves a little pampering, too. Check out the new client discounts at Pure Aesthetica, located here in Del Ray.

REI events – From kayak tours of the Washington, D.C. monuments to learning the basics of rock climbing, there are many options available to please the outdoorsy dad. Reduced pricing offered for members.

Getaway House – Pitch in with siblings and give dad the chance to unplug and enjoy some fresh air in the Shenandoah Mountains. Or plan a little escape with your baby daddy!

Wellness-Inspired Goods:

Yeti Rambler – While this tumbler will keep coffee hot or water cold all day long, we mostly love it (and think dad will, too) because it’s dishwasher safe.

Your Guide To Forest Bathing – Scientific evidence shows that time in nature can provide multiple benefits, such as reducing levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. Encourage dad to explore the comfort, peace, and healing found in the forest with this book, then plan a time to get outside.

Cookbook – We love the appeal of quick and easy, as well as Jaime Oliver’s passion to reduce childhood obesity. His new cookbook, 5 Ingredients: Quick and Easy Food, is sure to be a hit with the foodie dad.

BBQ Tools Set – Upgrade dad’s grill game with these fancy tools.

Personalized Supplements – Give dad a monthly box of vitamin packs tailored to his unique needs. Each packet can include a personalized message—a daily reminder that you care about his health.

Natural Shaving/Beard Products – Clean up dad’s skincare routine with organic products. This shaving soup has a great price-point, while this 2-in1 moisture and aftershave also protects against environmental pollutants. If dad sports a beard, try this natural beard oil.

APL’s – Keep dad lookin’ fly with these sleek sneaks.

Happy Father’s Day to all our Ascend dads!
